Who am I?
I am an engineer - I'm not a politician. Many residents in the BDD4 jurisdiction believe that the next commissioner should have the right qualifications that will benefit them, in their neighborhood. I have lived here for 12 years and have been involved in the engineering aspects of flooding issues for the past year. I am the candidate that has the qualifications, integrity, and knowledge to represent you fairly.
I am retired, and accessible. I don't have a full time job and the associated demands that would detract from my performance as one of your drainage district commissioners.
As I stated in the recent Ultimate Pearland and Houston Chronicle interview, I am not a newcomer to solving the flooding issues in the Pearland area because of the training and experience I have accumulated. That is why some of the people in my support are Robert Lira - Certified Floodplain Manager, every member of the Brookside Village city council, and Robert Meineke - the present Drainage District incumbent.
Why have drainage district commissioners?
I believe that we should be good stewards of the resources with which God has entrusted us. Water is one of those resources, but it can be a flooding hazard when there is a significant rain event and the runoff is not managed properly. The stated mission of the Drainage District is to control and distribute the storm and floodwaters within its jurisdiction.
Any proposed development in your neighborhood must, by the rules established, provide an engineered drainage plan. These plans must be approved, or disapproved, by the board of three commissioners. And these plans must be engineered to cause zero impact on the streams around us that ultimately take all the rainfall away from our homes.
Although this is an elected political position, bringing an engineering viewpoint to the board of commissioners will increase understanding of the issues and proposed solutions, and provide checks and balances to make sure the projects are realistic and will function properly after they are constructed.. I am the candidate that has the floodplain qualifications, the engineering background, and the time to spend on area flooding and drainage research.
My Vision is simple, but demanding:
- Promote better communications between Brazoria Drainage District #4 and its taxpayers
- Ensure equitable use of district assets within the subdivisions, cities and county
- Adhere to wise engineering practices in the many projects that are presented to the board for approval
- Protect your tax dollars as they are disbursed by the drainage district board
Voter turnout for this runoff election is expected to be very low. If you agree that I should be your drainage district commissioner then please vote for me one more time. Your vote will definitely make a difference.
Put your tax dollars to work sensibly
Please vote for:
